The ‘Ford Family Festival 2009 was organised by Chris Watkins and took place yesterday.
As usual all tastes and age groups were catered for with a wide variety of stalls, activities and attractions on show at the Stockingford Recreation ground.
The 1605 Living History Society were our first port of call. Fascinating information about, amongst other things, the gunpowder plot and what effect it has upon us today.
The free fairground rides were always going to be the top attraction for the little ones so, after stopping for burger and onion batches and an ice cream, we were off to the fair.
As you can see from the photo Aimee and James were in their element on this ride. “Can we go on again”, was all that we could hear as soon as the ride finished.
Unfortunately the afternoon was cut short straight after this as an absolute downpour began. We sheltered under cover of the market stalls for a good while but the rain was set.
With a heavy heart and unwilling legs we returned home, leaving the people who do all of the hard work setting up to take it all down again. I was part of the organising committee last year and know how much work goes into arranging and setting up this event.
Many congratulations to Chris Watkins for organising this years event.
I hope that the event will continue next year.
