Swine Flu vaccination programme

According to the Nuneaton News:- SWINE FLU ACTION

A MASSIVE vaccination programme will be carried out across Nuneaton, Bedworth and North Warwickshire to combat Swine Flu.

NHS Warwickshire has confirmed to the Nuneaton News that the first batches of vaccine should be in the region as soon as the autumn.

Keen not to cause panic, a spokesman for the organisation, which is responsible for administering local healthcare, said the inoculations were always in the pipeline.

"Offering vaccination against Swine Flu has always been in the government’s plans to protect as many people as possible," said the spokesman.

"We expect the first batches of vaccine to arrive in the autumn and we expect to receive guidance from the Department of Health about its administration to the population in due course.

"It is important to note that the virus is still generally mild in the majority of people and that, to date, there has been a relatively low number of confirmed Swine Flu cases in Warwickshire."

That’ll be alright then, or on second reading maybe not.

“as soon as the autumn” … the bloody autumn!

Swine Flu is predicted to be at its worst by mid August and we are to wait until the autumn.

I cannot pretend to be surprised but that does not mean that I am happy about it.

Don’t panic people.  Swine Flu is not going to be a massive killer.  Treatment freely is available to those who catch it and unlike the horror story headlines which you can read in any of today's online newspapers apart from a few very nasty days it is little different from any other type of flu.

Yes, I know that the first healthy adult has died from it and it is certainly a great tragedy for the family but calm down and think for a minute.  Every year some poor bugger dies from a bee sting that they did not previously know that they were allergic to.

In westernised nations with proper treatment available deaths will be few and far between.  It is not widely reported because it is normal but every year people die in this country from ….. common varieties of flu.

Now breath…..
