This smear comes to the surface whenever the European Union is brought up. I saw a lot of this before the European Elections in 2009 when Nick Griffin and Andrew Brons were elected as Members of the European Parliament for the British National Party.
The European parliament is purposely set up so that no single nation can control it without the agreement of a majority of the other elected members.
All political parties seek alliances when they enter the European parliament with political groups with which they have some common ground.
For the British National Party it is natural that our counterparts should have some interest in the principles of Nationalism. Anything else that they represent is between them and the electorate that elected them to the European parliament in the first place.
This sounds like democracy at work to me.
