Ex Bedworth councillor Sam Margrave leads fascist chanting from platform before UAF counter demonstration descends into violence.

As I type this post I am shaking with anger and revulsion at the turn of events at what should have been a peaceful protest in Birmingham yesterday.

There is a series of protests planned by a group calling themselves the English Defence League.  I have never heard of them before today and in all probability never would have.  I notice from their past demo’s page that this is not the first public demonstration.

I would like to draw the attention to readers of one simple fact:

The British National Party was not there!

I have attended events held by the British National Party and one thing that always happens is that party leaders, organisers and councillors such as myself are always highly visible.  We stand at the front where we can be seen.

West Midlands police has no doubts what so ever as to who was demonstrating as you can see from the video footage below.

So we have a Superintendent saying that this is a non-political, non-racist demonstration organised by football supporters on social networking sites against fundamental Islamic extremism.  There is also notice given of a counter demonstration by Unite Against Fascism (UAF).

It was Winston Churchill who said that, “"The fascists of the future will be called anti-fascists."  How right he was.

In the video below you will see the UAF demonstration gathering.  Please notice that the only placards that they are carrying are anti-BNP, who were not there.  To the supporters of the UAF this will not matter.  If they are going to protest violently they will claim that they are fighting a non-violent, legally constituted political party whether we are there or not.  I predict that you will see more of this in coming years because they are getting desperate.  With the Daily Telegraph printing the truth in a manner that only twelve months ago would not have been permitted: - Muslim Europe: the demographic time bomb transforming our continent, they are getting desperate.

I would also ask you to take a look at the speakers platform between 45 to 55 seconds into the clip.  I have no idea who the lady speaker is who is leading the fascist chanting with her fist in the air but the gentleman who is standing immediately behind her and joining in is non other than Sam Margrave, de-selected Labour party councillor on Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.  De-selected from his Bedworth ward because he was crap and moved to Nuneaton to compete against the British National Party in the ‘safe Labour’ seat of Camp Hill at the last borough election.

This gentleman to be precise:

Sam Margrave (facebook) nice pussy, Sam Margrave (National union of students) and for comparison purposes Sam Margrave.

The de-selected Labour party councillor in question left our area after the last borough election when he was trounced in Camp Hill by the British National Party who now holds the seat incidentally.

Sam Margrave was forced to stand in Nuneaton after previously having ‘served’ as a Labour councillor in Bedworth because the reasonable minded people of Bedworth would stand no more of him.  Hence his anti-BNP agenda.  Standing on a platform chanting slogans with the UAF before some organised violence takes place is possibly not the best way to re-engage with the people of this borough, or anywhere else for that matter.  I tell you what Sam.

We will find out wherever you stand at the next election!

If you are curious as to what happens  next in the video then take a look at the BBC website at an article titled: Arrests at anti-Islamic protest where, apart from re-viewing Sam Margrave, you will see the peaceful protesters happily being recorded singing God Save the Queen, our own National Anthem I believe.

The protest descended into violence at some point, as it was always going to lets face it.  No matter how non-political the organisers intentions if you recruit your protesters from football supporters groups (according to the policeman in the first video) and stand against a UAF counter demonstration then violence will ensue.

The video below clearly shows projectiles flying from the UAF supporters towards the police line protecting the peaceful protesters.

More evidence that violence was the intention of some elements all along in this next video.  The quality is purposefully fuzzy but it is clearly Birmingham and there is no doubt at all as to which side the people are on.  Quite like the music though.

This next offering is from the other side of the police lines.  The ‘peaceful’ protesters apparently changed their minds.

The Mail Online carried the story under the title: Mass brawl between right-wing group and anti-fascists as race riots spill onto streets of Birmingham.  Quite how a non-political event can be described as right-wing escapes me but I suppose they did sing the National Anthem.  Socialists do not like that at all.  About as much as prayer I believe.  Excerpt from the Mail Online story: -

Gary Nichols watched the disturbances from his city centre flat and said he was unable to go outside for about two and a half hours.

He told the BBC: 'It started off with a group of white guys who were chanting, 'England, England'. I thought they were just football fans, but then a larger group of black and Asian people turned up and it all kicked off.

taking union flag 'You had people burning the Union flag. People were being kicked - some of them weren't anything to do with the protests.

'It all seemed to be very systematic - groups were arriving in cars and getting involved in the violence.'

Broken banners were left scattered on the ground outside the Bullring following the disorder.

West Midlands Police said they believed the English and Welsh Defence League and and Casuals United protesters gathered after communicating on social networking sites.

Footage from yesterday's event showed members singing the national anthem in the city centre.

Eyewitness Emily Bridgewater was shopping when violence broke out.

peaceful protester kicked repeatedly She said: 'Everything seemed fine until suddenly it all kicked off outside and there was stampeding and screaming.

'We ended up being locked in Primark, the shutters came down and the alarms went off as the riot police tried to regain control of the street.

'It was very frightening.'

Today Chief Inspector Mark Payne, from West Midlands Police, said there were 35 arrests, mainly for disorder.

Three people were injured and there were several reports of damage, including a car.

Not pleasant reading.  The people perpetrating the violence in the pictures above may or may not be members of UAF or indeed have been encouraged by the fascist style chants of Sam Margrave and his lady friend giving her straight arm salutes at the beginning of their counter demonstration.

They are not however members of
the British National Party.

The police did not end the day covered in glory either.  I came across these two clips on YouTube and wondered what on earth happens to men in uniform on a day such as this one.

In this first recording, at the very end, a policeman is clearly heard to ask, “What we doing?”  Something he should have thought of at the beginning.  I am quite sure that the two ladies did not pose much threat.

We were shopping on this street in Birmingham last Thursday.   We did not however draw the attention that this unfortunate couple did from no less than eight police officers.

I am sorry and I cannot condone pushing the policeman but I am not surprised that this person got angry at the end of the clip.  Quite frankly I felt sorry for him myself.

Some people who read this blog undoubtedly support the British National Party, others do not.

I would imagine that it is now clear for anyone to see exactly why the British National Party does not condone nor take part in these futile demonstrations.
