Democracy should be where the parties interested in representing the people all stand for election and explain to the people what they think is wrong, what they would have done differently and what they will do in the future if elected. The people can then choose. This is in itself a simple process.
As is usual in an area before the British National Party turns up this is pretty much what happens. Add a bit of back biting and character analysis into the mix and you have the usual local by-election. Not when the British National Party is standing a candidate though.
The confirmed candidates for the Camp Hill by-election as at the closing of nominations at 12:00 yesterday are: -
| Deacon Alwyn Mark | British National Party |
| Lloyd Ian | The Labour Party Candidate |
| Wilson Kristofer David | The Conservative Party Candidate |
This may come as a surprise to local people who have seen in the local newspaper comments from other parties looking forward to the by-election and claiming candidates:

But Green Party candidate Keith Kondakor said …
Now everyone has a good point somewhere and I have found Keith’s for you. Take a look at the ‘description’ part of the FaceBook page for Nuneaton Green Party and I cannot disagree with a single word of it. Just in case he changes it rather abruptly for some reason:
Description:
We need real change in Nuneaton. We have already lost too many local services. We now could lose most of our green space with plans to build 15,000 extra homes. This is being planned now so we need to stop it before the down turn ends.
The last thing on the homepage of the Nuneaton Liberal democrats website when I looked just was entitled LOCAL ELECTIONS 2008 and continues:
Thank you to everyone that voted Lib Dem on 1 May.
The work doesn't stop there- we will be fighting for Nuneaton all year round. Please contact us if there are issues that affect you.
Clearly not that bothered themselves. Either that or they are simply knee jerk reactionaries who only campaign in the local newspapers. Seems about right. I have seen somewhere that they had a candidate but cannot find it online.
As we see all over the country it is the same old story for us. The lies are not working with the people as much as they used to. Smear leaflets alone will not cut it. Lying about us will not cut it though this has not stopped them for a second on the doorstep.
Little words have been dropped into little ears and all of a sudden the Liberal Democrats and Green Party candidates did not manage to get their paperwork in. The Socialist Party candidate did not even turn up to collect his paperwork though in a recent County Council by-election they did manage to organise a Rock against Racism gig in a local pub. The link takes you to a review done by the band who played on the night. I know people who went and there was nothing political about it. No leaflets, posters or speeches. It was just a gig and they even had to go into the bar and announce that a band was about to play upstairs. Class!
As usual the truth is a casualty on the doorstep as well. I will not reiterate the lies here because we are doing a leaflet and that would just be giving away too much at this stage. Regulars will understand.
