Apart from the obscene amount of money that we pay into the European Union anyway and the sum that has been ring fenced by the Labour Party for overseas development, and which the Conservative Party has pledged to double, there is now a not inconsiderable five hundred million pounds per annum to be found to make good on the pledge by our unelected idiot of a prime minister. I was not at all surprised to read that Gordon Brown had pledged the largest amount. As we are in the longest recession since records began, unlike several of our European neighbours, and there is no indication as yet as to when we will begin to climb out of it I would have been more appreciative if garrulous Gordon had kept his silly mouth shut: EU agrees climate pledge that may boost Copenhagen
EU leaders have agreed to pay 7.2bn euros (£6.5bn; $10.6bn) over the next three years to help developing nations adapt to climate change.
Announcing the deal, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt said all 27 EU member nations would contribute and that the EU was doing its "fair share".
UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the UK's promise, at £500m ($800m; 553m euros) a year was the highest.
