The time was that a broadcast from Osama Bin Laden would have commanded all of the news channels immediately. Such was the news worthiness of anything that he said. The video below is one that I have picked up from Russia Today. An English speaking news channel on the internet.
The video is taken in America but I wonder if the answers would be any different if it had been shot in Birmingham, London, Leeds, Liverpool or any of our other major cities?
Obviously he is very well connected and resourced and probably sitting in a hillside mansion somewhere. Rich reactionaries seldom live in tents/caves any longer than necessary, especially as they get older. Mansions are more their style.
Islamic suicide bombers continue on their missions and only work in the communities from which they originate can prevent this. Prevention of the radicalisation of young Muslims is essential all over the world. There are influences even within the UK who will radicalise them if they are presented with an easy opportunity as we have seen on the news when domestic terrorist atrocities are carried out.
Whereas terrorism will remain a threat for the foreseeable future I think that Osama himself has had his major burst in the spotlight. All he has to do now is hide for the remainder of his life and preach his own preferred form of Islam.
