It is reported in the Nuneaton News today that the Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust is looking for volunteer drivers to take the strain on their promise to provide transport for patients and carers who need to make appointments or visit relatives/friends at the Caludon Centre in Coventry.
One of the points that the Trust made from the beginning when they proposed to move in-patient mental health services from Nuneaton to Coventry was that transport would be provided because mental health professionals are in no doubt at all that receiving visits from friends and family is a significant factor in recovery.
There was no mention from the Health Trust that the community would have to provide the transport themselves!
