There is a story in today’s Daily Mail about a woman who was born in Manchester and now teaches English in Tehran.
British woman facing lashes and jail in Iran for 'supporting anti-government protests'
The remarkable thing about this young woman that makes her newsworthy is that she has dual nationality, which incidentally Iran does not recognise, and that she has been arrested by the Iranian authorities for the crime of ‘waging war against god’.
Sounds heavy to me and bearing in mind that Iran is an Islamic state my guess is that the penalty will be severe. When convicted she will face lashes and prison time.
Her crime in fact is that she took part in anti government protests in Tehran.
Excuse me for being a Nationalist here but what did she think that she was doing? Did she for one second believe that she would be treated with respect because of her non recognised dual nationality passport or was she brainwashed by liberals in Britain into thinking that sticking her nose in where it was not wanted was the right thing to do because it is actually ‘the right thing’. The problem with that way of thinking is that to the Sharia law trained judiciary in Tehran ‘the right thing’ is decidedly not Christian.
I can have no objection to Iranian law taking its course in Iran and I do object to the Foreign Office wasting a single minute on this case.
