The Christmas retail figures are in and do not make pleasant reading for major chain retailers. This year it is not the case of will more shops close but how many?
The other side of the coin is a small positive. Economists predicted brighter figures based on a massive uptake in credit by individuals, which appears not to have happened.
Well done if you managed to avoid credit over the festive season. I'm not one for New Year resolutions but if you are you could do worse than trying to avoid credit wherever practical.
