Easter Bonnets

Last night I watched more than helped Debbie and Sian as they finished decorating the Easter Bonnets for James and Aimee for school today.

James and Aimee Easter Bonnets

Little ones just love to take part in things like this and these two are no exception.  Being self employed I have managed to arrange to have time off this afternoon to attend the show at school.  Something that would not have been possible in the past.  When I think of the things that I have missed when I was employed full time as a lorry driver….. still, this is not the time for a rant.

I think that it does us all good now and again to put work and politics out of our minds and concentrate on the reasons that we do it all in the first place.

No2EU

I do come across some strange places when I take an occasional link walk through the blogosphere.

This afternoon I have encountered a site called Anglo-Buddhist Combine which has an intriguing post entitled The Left Eats Itself #6,904.  The blogger works for Friends of the Earth and has been a Councillor for the Green Party in the City of Oxford so knows his way around even if his perspective is different to ours.

I do encourage you to take a look at the post.  The analysis of the chances of the RMT backed No2EU is about right in my estimation.  This shambolic leftist operation is not likely to destabilise the British National Party campaign at all but will possibly divide the left enough to destabilise theirs.

I did leave a comment, nothing scurrilous you understand, but it will be interesting to see if it passes moderation.

BNP’s quiet revolution

The phenomenon known as the BNP’s quiet revolution is gaining momentum rather nicely.  One of the gentlemen from our Wolverhampton branch, Simon Patten, linked to this on Facebook and I just had to share it with you.

Camphill Greengrocer’s last opening.

Today the community of Camphill, Nuneaton, said a fond farewell to the community Greengrocer.  Operated by Alan and Jean Mellor the 'veg shop' has been open under their management for 22 years.  Dedicated friendly service to the community has been their standard since day one and today has been no exception.

These photographs are in an online album if you wish to view them individually

As you can see from the slideshow many residents turned up at the street barbecue to thank Alan and Jean for the dedicated and loyal service that they have provided.  This was an emotional farewell for all concerned and very few were not at least close to tears.

The inscription on the glass plaque reads: -

“DECEMBER 1987 – MARCH 2009

ALLAN MELLOR

GREENGROCER

In Appreciation Of Excellent Service To Our Community

From A Warm Kind & Much Loved Proprietor

Love From All Your Customers Staff & Friends”

The balance sheet of the Co-op has been hit hard at their new shop but being a national chain they can afford to take the hit and wait.  This they have done.

I do hope that the Co-op management are proud of themselves.

The scenes that I have captured today are the true cost of their decision to negotiate a monopoly over existing community businesses.  Redundancy and upset for the staff and proprietors at the beginning of a depression, less choice and higher prices for the community, or at least those who cannot travel further afield.

Goodwill has been relied upon by business large and small for centuries and is highly valued when businesses are bought and sold.  I think that the Co-op’s account in Camphill is overdrawn by quite a lot!

Thank you Alan, Jean and the Girls from all of the people who know what Camphill has lost!

Equality Bill – equality, really?

In the Queen’s speech Her Majesty read the following.

“My Government is committed to ensuring everyone has a fair chance in life. My Government will bring forward a Bill to promote equality, fight discrimination and introduce transparency in the workplace to help address the difference in pay between men and women.”

Very honourable words considering the calibre of people who wrote them for her.

From the Number10 website: -

Promoting equality is essential for individuals to fulfil their potential, for the creation of a cohesive society and for a strong economy. A substantial body of equality legislation has been introduced over the last four decades, protecting millions of people from discrimination and promoting greater equality. But the legislation has become complex and hard to understand. The Equality Bill will simplify and strengthen the law.

“The Equality Bill will simplify and strengthen the law”.  Excellent!  I am warming to this by the minute.

equality bill Putting equality at the heart of government is the aim according to the Government Equalities Office.  This still sounds good to me.  I really am warming to this piece of legislation which is being brought in to replace, not work alongside, the huge mound of legislation which ‘uman rights lawyers have been using for years to tie up resources and feather their own nests.

Well done the Labour government….. but hold on a moment.  Before I break out the beers, what is this bit about?

Positive action on employing staff will be "entirely optional", but as long as candidates are equally suitable and there is evidence of under-representation, the Bill will allow employers to appoint someone from a group that is under-represented in their workforce.

Found that bit in The Independent newspaper but I will not pretend that I have not heard it before.  One of the privileges of being an elected representative is that you get to clarify things with Council officers.  Apparently it is not a legislative command that positive discrimination will be applied to two candidates who have the same qualifications, it is merely an option at this stage.

Hmmm, now I am not feeling so warm inside.  I am beginning to feel the invasive tentacles of  political correctness grasping the throat of decency.

At this stage positive discrimination is optional but I have some questions: -

  1. Why is it an option?
  2. Will it still be an option when the legislation finally emerges?
  3. How in the name of all that is holy can this be called an equality bill when it suggests discrimination between equals?

All over England people will be attending job interviews looking at the other applicants and calculating how many ‘positive discrimination points’ they may have as against their competing candidates.

This makes a mockery of the word equality.

Or to put it another way.  In public service organisations and absolutely any branch of government organisation I believe the law would be applied as follows if, as I expect it to be sooner or later, the wording is amended to demand positive discrimination.

White men need not apply!

How about this as my suggestion for an Equality Bill.

Every featherless British biped is equal in the eyes of the law.

Shouldn’t need much more than that should it?  Excludes the ostriches which are resident in the UK but hey, they are well looked after under other legislation.  This stuff is just for humans.

Technology - Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council utilising cyberspace – Yes Please.

I received a very interesting e-mail yesterday from one of the officers of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.  The officer is responsible for the new Council blog.  In the morning he found this blog and my Twitter micro blog, in the afternoon I posted a comment in the ‘about’ section of their blog.  Stranger things have happened.

The Council has launched a blog called Talkingeds’s Blog, a new development which began in December.  Initially not widely publicised I hope that it will be.  It shows the human face from within the town hall as well as keeping people up to date, from within as well as without, on Council stuff.  The community will like that.

twitter Twitter is an online Micro Blogging service that I use.  If you are interested the updates feed directly into the side bar of this blog just underneath the ‘Blog Archive’ and the ‘Poll’.  Various Councils use Twitter too as a means of updating people on developments.  Examples are: Derbyshire County Council, Rugby Borough Council, and North Devon Council.  I would like to see Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council start a Twitter like these.  It is so easy for residents to save to favourites then they can keep up with the Council on a real time basis.

flickr Another online service that can be useful is Flickr, a photo sharing website which can also be useful for Councils to use to share information in the public domain without loading up their own already busy servers.  A good example of this is Coventry City Council who utilised Flickr to carry the images of their Coventry City Centre Master plan.

In my opinion Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council should have a Twitter micro blog as well as a ‘proper’ blog.  Images such as the Stockingford recreation ground master plan, the images of the Heritage Lottery Fund bid for Riversley Park amongst others could easily be hosted on Flickr.

What price British national identity?

Freedom, Security, Identity and Democracy are the four cornerstones of Nationalism.

We all have a personal identity that goes beyond name and National Insurance number.  You know who you are, where you are coming from (I am not talking in geographical terms) when you speak and what you mean when you say things even if others may take what you say the wrong way.

There are local and regional identities as well.  Mention Newcastle, Liverpool, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham or London in cultural or identity terms and people think about accents, food, sports teams and language amongst others.

Think for a moment about the British national identity…..

Not the same now as it was fifty years ago and in fifty years from now it will be different again.  With the speed of information technology this is inevitable and not necessarily a bad thing.  Some think of the British National Party as a party of little Englanders who live with their hearts in the past.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

The British National Party wants this nation to develop to the positive benefit of all of its citizens.  What really differentiates us from the other parties on this is that we really value our national identity and do not want to merge it into a common European, Eurabian or Global identity.  We want people to get off a plane in fifty years time and be able to tell the difference between Great Britain and anywhere else.

The video below is of Nick Griffin appealing for funds for our euro-election campaign.  You may well find it interesting even if you would not consider donating.

Problems on the financial markets.

I believe that this could be very significant, if not immediately then certainly sooner rather than later.

How long before a UK guilts strike? is the question raised by a fellow blogger.  The Capitalists@Work blog makes excellent reading and I would recommend it if you have an interest and a few minutes to spare.

This is what he has to say on the matter: -

Yesterday's failed auction caused rumblings in the City. Effectively, the City trading desks want to buy short-term guilts off the government and sell them back to the bank of England at a profit.

In this way, the taxpayer is transferring money to the Banks for re-capitalisation. Easy, risk free profit for the City Traders.

QE (Quantitative Easing) was not meant to do this, as longer-term buyers were supposed to be involved, but it is the law of unintended consequences. When the Government tried an issue of long-term debt though, there was a strike, whereas the short-term debt auction today, which has a nice guaranteed bonus on it from HMT, goes without a hitch.

The long-term is an issue though, QE is going to cause inflation and long-term bonds at under 5% return with no inflation guarantee does not look like a great investment, hence the lack of buyers. Do you think inflation will stay so low for the next 40 years?

If the Bank of England ends QE early, then we will see if there is a short-term strike too. To fob off yesterday as a blip is incorrect, it is still a big warning. Hence Mervyn King sounding off earlier this week.

The Government is going to have funding issues big time if it follows a route of spending more money without any cuts in other expenditure.

For me this sums up the problems well.  Banks are quite willing to take as much guaranteed profit from the public purse, your pocket, as they can get away with but are not willing to take the risk themselves.

This makes the British National Party policy of nationalising all of the failing banks and passing their shares over to a Bank of National Reconstruction look fairly sane don’t you think?

Ladies don’t look

This video was sent to me on Facebook by a charming young lady whom I will not name here.

She thought I might find this amusing … and she was so right!

Camphill demonstration update – Pride in Camp Hill

I have seen it written all over the newspapers that the Greengrocer is going to close in Camphill.  Quite right, it is.  The community however are not happy about this at all.

kitchenercoop

This is a graphic which is doing the rounds at the protest, which continues, at the moment.

The Co-op prices are far higher than any other local outlet which stocks similar items.  Stock lines that can be directly compared to the Greengrocers are about 40% higher.

A big point of annoyance for the residents is that at Alan and Jeans you can buy any item in single quantities.  From the Co-op you must buy a pack.  This leads to wasted money, wasted food, and extra recycling!

And they call this progress!

The image below is the one chosen by the protesters as best defining how they feel about the Pride in Camp Hill regeneration initiative and its board in particular.

kitchenerpinchMany of the residents of Camphill who signed the original petition to save the Greengrocer were of the opinion that the whole regeneration of Camphill needed taking a look at.  They felt that their opinions and desires were ignored from the start.

Community champions were offered a place at the meetings but under the condition that anything said or heard while at the meeting was confidential and therefore could not be discussed with other residents.  Such restrictions are considered Zimbabwean in Camphill and are rejected out of hand by residents.

Residents want to have their own community forum which is free to discuss whatever it likes and have the Pride in Camp Hill board attend their meetings.   They want Pride in Camp Hill to take their direction from the residents instead of the existing, ‘listen then ignore’ policy.

There are many areas of concern for the residents.  Some of which will be very unpopular with the current board.

Oh Dear – What a shame!

The residents of Camphill are not best pleased at having their community broken up.

They do not want their local shops forced to close by a big business monopoly.

They do not want massive new housing schemes which double the housing density of the area whilst simultaneously destroying the quality of life.

Having taken a look at the constitution of the Pride in Camp Hill initiative the protesters now feel that they have found their way forward.

They are in the early stages of compiling a petition to have the head of the regeneration project removed.  This is achievable if they can obtain more than fifty percent of the signatures available within the Camphill area.

Protesters will be hitting the streets soon.

Vote BNP and Kick out the crooks.

I cannot resist showing you this video especially for those of you who may need an early smile for the day.

How unfortunate for the horse.  I bet she never lives it down back at the stables.

Time to Kick the Crooks Out: Tory and Labour “Second House” Swindlers Named and Shamed says the headline of this article on the British National Party website.

Once again it is found that members of parliament, the so called ‘honourable members’, are ripping the public off for basket loads of cash every year.

Vote BNP and stop them!

Camphill update, Galley Common riding stables and Mental Health.

count the costIt has been reported in the local press recently that the demonstration in Camphill is over.  The Greengrocer’s business is going to close on the last day of March and that is that.  All is over.  The Co-op has taken a hit to its balance sheet for a while and now equilibrium will return and happy smiling faces will return to Camphill.

I do not think that this is accurate and I certainly am not under the impression that everything is fine in Camphill.  far from it!

stitched up

To address the first point it is correct that Alan at the Greengrocers has had to file for compensation for termination of business due to the redevelopment or else he could have lost everything that he has built up.  Good will is a very valuable part of any community business as many will know.  You cannot sell it once the business has been demolished however.

Staff members will have to be laid off.  A reality that has already come true for staff from other business’s.  The depth of community feeling about this should not be underestimated.

The protest however has changed!

During this whole demonstration the people of Camphill have constantly been saying that they want something doing about the organisation known as Pride in Camphill.

More details to follow …..

Galley Common Riding School for the Disabled

The riding stables for the disabled at Galley Common have been in the news again for the right reasons this time.  I am truly delighted that several thousands of pounds have been collected from several sources.  Hopefully enough to tide them over the period until they can open to the public again.

Mental Health in the Borough

opposition to the closure of the mental health facilities that lie within the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth grows daily.  My own opposition to this has been made well known in meetings where it was appropriate to discuss this subject.

I have made absolutely certain that no-one, Councillors, press and various guests from the primary care trust, are in any doubt of the fact that I believe that the existing resources that are within the Borough should remain.

The proposal to transfer services to the Caludon Centre in Coventry is not good for anyone except the balance sheet boys who have to show some progress on the user figures for their showcase ‘Super’ hospital.

Birmingham Battle of Britain fundraiser.

Last night saw the last of the ‘Battle of Britain’ fundraising events in the West Midlands.  I will not reveal the exact figures but the amount that was needed to finalise the funding for our region for the European election campaign was easily exceeded.

Well done to everyone who contributed money, time, effort or resources!

Simon Darby Birmingham Battle of Britain This event, amongst other things, is touched upon by our own Deputy Leader and all round good guy Simon Darby (pictured left) on today’s blog entry entitled: Another Target Reached - and something less to worry about.  I took the picture with my Samsung mobile ‘phone and normally get good results but to be fair the light in the room was not the best for photographic purposes.

Ken - Black Country organiser with myself

One of the best things about these events for me is the possibility of catching up with people of the quality that you only find at British national Party functions.

To prove the point here is myself with Ken Griffiths, organiser of the Black Country Branch of the BNP.  One of many truly excellent people that I have had the pleasure of meeting through the party.

Many thanks to the security team!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the security team.  Ever present at BNP do’s and keeping to themselves, ensuring that everything continues uninterrupted by opponents who just may have different ideas to ourselves.  I did not get chance last night but if any of you are reading this a big thank you comes from not only myself but all of the Findley clan.  Especially little Aimee who liked the big guy who touched her hair.  Many thanks.

Incidentally.  While I am writing this I am playing Jerusalem over and over.  I am using the recording from an earlier post.  I am not one for repeating things but as we enjoy singing it so much and this is a particularly good version I will not apologise for including it again right now.

God bless.

George Galloway – terrorist sympathiser – denied entry into Canada.

george galloway I would like to personally thank the Canadian Immigration ministry for not overturning their laws for the benefit of our Member of Parliament George Galloway.

This shameful man actually brags about giving financial support to Hamas.

According to the front page of his own personal website, which I refuse to link to, “This is not something I’m prepared to accept”.

This story is carried on Reuters: - Canada denies entry to fiery MP George Galloway.  It is also available on the Guardian website: - George Galloway banned from Canada.

Debbie and I are getting ourselves and the children ready now for this evenings Battle of Britain event in Birmingham.  We always look forward to time spent with like minded BNP people.

Not a good day to be Labour.

I have just taken a quick look at the BBC news website.  Oh dear, and please forgive my scepticism and sarcastic tendencies, it is not a good day to be in the Labour party.

sterlingFirst up is the information that we all expect that Government borrowing 'to swell'.  This is immediately followed by the news that the UK budget deficit widens further, apparently to record levels.  Quite probably not a record for long but there I go being cynical and sarcastic again.  Unemployment passes two million and that is the official figure.  We would need to remove a few shoes and socks to calculate the real one I assure you!

Moving on to foreign affairs it is reported that the Allies are facing Afghan 'stalemate' .  People are beginning to notice that this lawless hellhole of a nation does not wish to be influenced by us or anyone else.  I would say that unless everyone there is killed Afghanistan will never be controlled by outsiders.  It is their country!

Bank of England For me this is the beginning for the ultimate in globalist tendencies.  Can banking regulation go global? is the question.  Why the hell should it? would be my instant reply.  The ultimate goal of Socialism, Globalism, International Capitalism and Islam for that matter is a one world government.  Conspiracy theorists will be saying that the so called ‘Credit Crunch’ was orchestrated on purpose as an attempt to bring this about.  Personally I doubt that anyone is clever enough to orchestrate such an undertaking.

expose-corruption My personal favourite, and for anyone who cares I was born in Stoke on Trent, is this offering from the website of The British National Party.  Entitled Labour Party Chaos in Stoke as Corruption Scandal Spreads this one brings a warm glow to my internal spaces.

All in all then, not a good day to be Labour.

Council meetings – Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.

It has been a busy week for me as a member of Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council representing Barpool Ward on the meeting front with three meetings in the Council House.  I like to do my best to support both the public and the BNP.

First up on Monday was the Overview Joint Scrutiny Commission.  This is the overall body from which the members are chosen for the different scrutiny panels, from which members volunteer for duty on working groups.  Few, explanation over.  This was a healthy meeting with much debate on workload, remaining agenda items that have to be fitted in on the scrutiny panels and workload for next year.

Interestingly there was a presentation from the equalities officer about the new Equality Bill which is coming into force sometime as yet unannounced which will take over from a raft of existing legislation.

There was much debate about the part which makes ‘positive’ discrimination allowable under circumstances where two candidates for a job have equal merit.  This is of course discrimination in its own right but we all know that argument.  I listened carefully to many words of wisdom from either side as they out did each other on the point of fairness.  Some were in favour of the idea, most not.

I could not help myself asking, “Mr Chairman.  Can you assure me that at no time in the past this Council has or in the future will discriminate for or against any candidate for a job in any way whatsoever?”  You could have heard a pin drop!  The Chair gave reassurances that it had never happened (you may think different, if so there is a comments section) and as far as he was concerned never would.  We will see.  Personally I think that the legislation which in its formative state suggests this course of action will in future be amended to demand it, but that is only my point of view.

On Tuesday it was the turn of the Standards committee to meet.  The part of the meeting which most caught my interest was the last item about complaints to Standards about elected members.  As the situation stands at the moment if a complaint is made against you you are notified that there is a complaint and that a decision will be made as to whether or not to allow it to continue past the initial stage within thirty days.  That is all you get.  No details at all.  Personally I believe that if someone puts in a complaint about a member you should get a photocopy of it so that you can best prepare yourself just in case.

I have just returned from an Appeals Committee Hearing about a pay re-grading which quite rightly is confidential.

Much work, little pleasure and a few good articles.

home study with children Today has been as busy as a bugger from the start.  Assignment day for my degree and I have spent a not inconsiderable amount of effort finishing off.

This picture is of our eldest two putting up with me sharing their study space today.

This evening I have been with BNP folk Alwyn Deacon and Councillor Darren Haywood talking about party matters, quarterly bulletins, and of course forthcoming elections.  Beyond that I have put the date for the Summer School into my diary.  The BNP Summer School provides two days of educational classes some of which you take part in and others where you just listen.  All are excellent for new and more experienced activists alike and i recommend it most strongly.  I am thoroughly looking forward to it and hope to see as many of you there as possible.

I have had a little trawl around some of the sites that I follow and thought that I would offer you these titbits from other blogs.

Northants Patriot spotted that two police officers were amongst those arrested when Northamptonshire Police targeted serious crime.  No surprise to me really.  If you read the Guardian site you might have seen the story: More than 1,000 police have criminal records.

Your friend and mine Simon Darby has something to say about one or two people who rather inappropriately moan about the British National Party,

From the British National Party website itself Shahid Malik tells us that he will see a Muslim Prime Minister within thirty years.  I have included the video below but the article is worth a read.

They want us to go down with their sinking ship according to Martin Wingfield who has penned a very good article about the G20 finance ministers.

The Polish Trade Unions Demand Bar on Foreign Workers Entering that Country as they realise that immigration by foreign workers who will work for less pay is not good for their workers or their economy.  Shame our current crop in Westminster are not as bright as a Polish trade unionist.

Liverpool Truth Truck Don’t Let the Labour Thugs Win! is the title.  The Land Rover pictured combined with its A-frame frailer is known as the Liverpool Truth Truck.

This is the vehicle which was smashed up by hammer wielding Labourites from the UAF Searchlight end of the political spectrum.

There is a donation button at the foot of the page that I have provided a link to.  If you possibly can please use it.  I am sure that any amount will be welcomed.

Home schooling works

Home schooling works

At the moment I am quietly celebrating home schooling.

Education at home is not everyone’s cup of tea but it works for us.

The little conversations that take place that we do not particularly think twice about, the amount of input we have one way or another into the education of our children without having any boxes to tick or anyone looking over our shoulder with a withering look saying, “You can’t say/do that!”

We teach them our way!  They learn the things which matter as well as the subjects that they need.  The world around children is as important as anything that is learnt in a book.  Ours get to talk to us about anything whenever they need to.  The result is confident outward looking young people who know who they are and where they are from, have an understanding of what is happening around them and can speak quite confidently about it.  This will hopefully give them a better chance of  understanding something of who they want to be and what they want to be/do with their lives.  Everyone needs to find some direction in their lives at some point.  They are not getting this from books or a computer screen.  They learn this from us.

Home schooling operates outside of the normal framework of nine to three thirty.  Education takes place particularly well when children are curious.  Often Debbie or myself will turn the answer to a question into a small lesson aimed directly at the point which raised the curiosity in the first place, often without realising.  This can happen in a shop, on the street, whilst watching a program on the television or quite often while we are talking about something unrelated.

We have the knowledge about how our children are progressing with their school syllabus subjects because we talk to them regularly and help them out.  Not for us a ten minute ‘parents evening’ where the teacher presents you with some information which means nothing to you and tells you that they are, “doing fine”.

There is a downside of course in terms of the commitment and sacrifice that is required to have them at home every day.  Once in a while though it is great to celebrate the positives of home schooling which I guess is what I am doing here.

Thank you for allowing me to celebrate this piece of our lives with you today.  I could go on and make a proper article/speech about home schooling with ease but you probably have better things to do.

Labour’s answer to a drinking problem – allow 24hr drinking.

alcopop Chief Medical Officer vows to press on with anti-alcohol campaign, despite No 10 rebuff says the headline.

The Chief Medical officer is rightly concerned about the excessive levels of alcohol consumed by some people and the adverse effects this has on society which effect everyone else.  I am slightly amused, with no intention of denigrating the seriousness of the subject matter, that he finds himself putting this report in front of a Labour government who extended licensing laws to give extra choice and to whom the idea of reinforcing more traditional values is an anathema.

Labour intends to break down society so that it can be internationalised as quickly as possible in front of a befuddled population who have lost the will to do anything about it.

Of course the Chief Medical Officer has a valid point and taxation may or may not be the way to deal with it but I do feel that he is doomed bringing this to Gordon’s boys and girls.

Are Labour going back to CND?

CND According to an article in today’s Times newspaper entitled Britain ready to cut nuclear arsenal, says Gordon Brown.  The article begins:

Britain is prepared to reduce its arsenal of nuclear weapons as part of a co-ordinated move with other nuclear states towards disarmament, Gordon Brown said today.

The country will go ahead with its new generation of Trident submarines, but they are likely to have far fewer warheads than previously envisaged.

In a speech at Lancaster House in London, the Prime Minister said that all nuclear states should move towards disarmament to build confidence in those countries that did not have nuclear weapons, and to deter them from developing them.

Is nuclear disarmament really an option with the political world in its present condition?  I personally don’t think so.  This would require a truly momentous placement of trust in every other nuclear or potentially nuclear political regime on the planet.

For me this is not going to happen!

I do have to say though that after the economic and political shocks of the past twelve months it does seem as if the Labour left are looking for a comfort zone.  This might go some way to sooth disenchantment amongst backbenchers who are not seeing the tax policies coming forward that they seek.

Jerusalem – pure magic

If this does not stir you then you are dead already.

Jerusalem Hymn

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

Or if you prefer a more traditional background.  Same hymn of course but this time sung by the choir of Winchester Cathedral.

A strange weekend.

It has been a strange weekend for me.  I have been and remain quite emotional about recent events.

There is the opposition to the homecoming soldiers.  Let’s face it.  If that opposition had been aimed at the politicians who sent them in the first place most of us could have agreed with it and even the doubters would recognise their right to protest.

Protesting against the troops themselves is just not on!

In Leigh there was the cowardly attack on our friend Tony Ward.  Does it have to come to this on the streets of Britain?  We all hope that this is an isolated incident.  I have also found myself, and not for the first time, feeling angry with our, in some places, contemptible politicised police service.  Who the hell do they think that they are going around telling landlords that they will oppose their next licensing application if they allow the British National Party to use their room.

Again, this is just not on!

A few words on this from the Chairman in the video below.

This weekend has been a time for study.  I have had my head in the books studying for the vast majority of the weekend with very little time for anything else.  Boring yes but sometimes it has to be done.

Labour shame – British National Party expose.

From the website LabourNet UK: -

Anti-fascist mobilisation to stop the BNP in Leigh Fri 13 Mar

Report by Stephen Hall
Published: 12/03/09

Comrades,

In the last few minutes I have been informed by Peter Franzen leader of the Community Action Party in Wigan, based on information provided to him by a prominent member of the SWP in Wigan, that BNP leader Nick Griffin is planning on speaking at a BNP Rally/Public Meeting at the Pure Night Club, Bridgewater Street, Leigh this Friday (13th March) at 7.30pm.

As a former Leigh TUC President, and a prominent socialist activist of over thirty years in the town, I am issuing an urgent appeal to every anti-fascist living within the North West to mobilise to stop this event from taking place, and to come and help us kick Nick Griffin and his nazi scum-bag mates out of of our town.

We've no idea how long this meeting has been planned, and how many BNP thugs he'll be bringing along, indeed for all we know it could be a regional or even national mobilisation for the BNP, so everyone will really need to pull out the stops given the extremely short notice, and help to try and build for the largest possible turnout of anti-fascists if we're at all going to have a chance of stopping the event from taking place.

Anti-fascist forces are being asked to assemble at the Ellesmere pub on St.Helens Road in Leigh at 6.30pm (opposite Bridgewater Street).

Please publicise far and wide.

I will send further updates as soon as I know any more.

Stephen Hall

If this is not incitement to violence I do not know what is.  With terminology such as, “kick Nick Griffin and his nazi scum-bag mates out of our town”, and talk of bringing BNP thugs he does not leave much to the imagination does he?

The description, “Anti-fascist forces are being asked to assemble…”, suggests that the TUC see themselves as having a Socialist paramilitary wing.

If you are reading this as someone whose political views may be different to mine please take the time to read the following page from the main website of the British National Party: -

“By Their Silence They Incite the Violence” — Nick Griffin Challenges Establishment Politicians to Condemn the Hammer Attack Carried out in Their Name

If you see the names of any members of parliament who supposedly represent you, please ask them exactly what they know about the UAF and why they support it?

Read this and weep for democracy.

Tony Ward

Tony Ward (pictured) is a hard working family man and British National Party activist whom Debbie and I have had the pleasure of meeting on a number of occasions.

Last night whilst trying to promote the BNP Tony and the vehicle he was in were attacked viciously by a mob of men with hammers intent on damaging the vehicle, its trailer and the men inside.  They succeeded!

These Nazi’s MUST PAY!

According to the BBC website, “A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm”.  Make no mistake about it.  If this attack had been the other way around there would be charges of attempted murder.

How can it not be attempted murder when they armed themselves with hammers in advance with the intention of causing harm?

The BNP website of course contains the facts that the BBC do not want you to know.

The politicised police were too busy trying to intimidate further landlords from allowing our fundraiser to go ahead!

This is a worse attack than the one last August which saw union members with their banners uniting with communists to stone vehicles carrying families on their way to the BNP’s Red White and Blue cultural festival in Derbyshire.

Luton protest update

In condemnation of the recent protest about the Anglian Regiment returning to Britain I can only find this tiny report from the Muslim Council of Great Britain.  I can find no other condemnation.

On YouTube I found this interview with Abdul Malik who just happens to be on Luton's Race Advisory Forum and who refuses to condemn this action!

Compare this if you will to the condemnation that has poured in from both sides of the argument in Ireland where scum murdered soldiers.  Thousands of people have been out on the streets together to make the point that such anti-democracy morons do not operate in their name.

Fuel prices move downwards – Don’t be deceived.

Petrol pump

I have been out and about this morning and low and behold fuel prices have come back down by a couple of pence per litre.

Don’t celebrate just yet.

If you take a look not too far back through this very blog you will see at least two posts with supporting evidence fro the world oil markets demonstrating the point that the increase was just profiteering by the companies involved.

Shame on them!

About a year ago the fuel prices were in the eighties per litre for diesel and now it is a pound.  Even with the acclaimed reductions since the fuel price spikes of last summer the price is still up nearly 25% over a twelve month period.  We are being ripped off and the Labour government will do nothing to help the people because their tax revenues would be cut.

I am disgusted by the moral bankruptcy being displayed by the government and energy monopolies alike.

Liverpool BNP on the radio

This recording is of the Liverpool BNP organizer Steven Greenhalgh interviewed on radio city March 1st 2009.

This was an excellent interview.  More radio airtime being dedicated to the British National Party in a fair manner.

We could easily get used to this!

If this sensible style were ever to be transferred to the television then that would be a breakthrough.

Camphill demonstration update

save_our_shops(2)

There was a big hoo-hah on the front page of the local newspaper a few days ago about the local Labour Party County Councillor Sid Tooth saying that with his contacts he was going to arrange a meeting with the senior man in the Co-operative movement in this region.

Great except for the fact that this is a hollow promise.  The Greengrocer is due to close at the end of March so when do you think that the Co-op have arranged to meet him? April 3rd!

What sort of negotiation will it be where one party has been forced to close down by the other before negotiations on their behalf begin.  This is typical of big business protecting their monopoly position and of NuLabour doing anything for publicity.

I am not a professional in commercial negotiations but it does look to me as if a decent community spirited family business is being stuffed by the corporate giants.  Make no mistake about it.  Any ethical stance in the Co-operative movement has long since been eradicated.

DSA – Continuous Professional Development

DSA I was in the local driving test centre this morning with a pupil, who passed first time, and could not help but notice the array of driving industry literature on display.

They really are going overboard on the idea of Continuous Professional Development.

Sounds fine doesn’t it?  What it will mean is a compulsory and expensive set of tests and grades that must be reached upon pain of losing your living if you do not.  This will be forced upon the industry in a time where money is becoming ever tighter and work that much harder to find.

Just as a bit of background.  There are less road accidents now than there were in 1930 according to the statistics used in DSA publications.  So why exactly do we need these draconian measures in this industry.  Could it possibly be simply to justify a burgeoning bureaucracy?

If a driving instructor has complaints against them at head office or if their pass rate is below a sensible level then pull them in and sort them out.  For those of us who do a good job in a reasonable number of lessons bugger off and leave us alone!

Luton protest – the reality.

I am going to start this post with a video showing what the welcome should be about.  British people welcoming back our soldiers from foreign shores.  Then I will make some comments.

I know from experience that Luton has a high percentage of its population from what is called the ethnic minority.

Throughout the videos that I present, and I have looked closely, there are no members of the ethnic minorities welcoming back our soldiers.  I assume that this is because they do not see them as their soldiers.  It is also rather evident which section of the community the protesters are from.  Certainly everyone in the video below seems to me to be from the indigenous population.

Where are the moderate Muslims?

Why are they not welcoming back their soldiers from securing peace in their former homelands?

Why are they not protesting at the extremists who hide in their midst?

The video below  shows the population of Luton and their opinion of the protesters.  I think that you will find that they make their feelings known quite effectively.

In the balance of fairness I include this video.  This response from the Muslim community accuses our soldiers of murdering, raping, looting, stealing and tyranny amongst other things.  You should force yourself to watch this.

In this case the balance of evidence would seem to show that multiculturalism does not work.

The British National Party only recognises one community.  The one community in which we all, in reality, have to live.  The sooner that other people give up their interest groups and come to this conclusion the better.

I am interested in your opinions and welcome them in the comments section.

Camphill protest - update

Camphill shops - waste food

This image is doing the rounds at the protest.

Taken yesterday it is of a member of staff clearly flummoxed as to where to put the trolley full of food that has got to be wasted because no-one is buying it.  Flummoxed that is because the commercial sized bin is already full of….. you guessed it….. food that has already been thrown away because no-one will buy it!

The protesters are aware from delivery drivers that almost as much stock is being returned as delivered.  Many things cannot be returned so the bin is the obvious place.

Meanwhile, a few yards away at the under threat Greengrocers, Mr Mellor has checked his books and reported that since the Co-op has officially opened and the protest began his profits have….. increased by 31%.

BRITONS DON'T WANT JOBS

According to Lord Mandelson in today’s Daily Express newspaper anyway.  The headline ‘BRITONS DON'T WANT JOBS’ drew my attention immediately.

LORD Mandelson provoked fury last night by suggesting that British workers are too lazy to take jobs being snapped up by immigrants.

Fuelling the “British jobs for British workers” controversy, the Business Secretary claimed that UK nationals were either  “not available or unwilling” to fill job vacancies.
And he said the influx of foreign labour from Eastern Europe had caused no “adverse” effect on our jobs market.

Please read the complete story via the link above.  This man really should learn to engage his brain before opening his mouth.

News Raid – BBC website.

This morning I have had a quick thrash around the BBC news website and I have decided to include a few links to stories which obviously have some bearing on current events.  I have no intention of commenting fully on the individual links but they are worth a read if you wish.

'Big rise' in illegal immigrants – nice to know that someone else has noticed.  Boris Johnson suggests an amnesty.  I would respectfully disagree.  What surprised me about this article is that the reasoning is all over the place.  This is merely being floated to test public reaction.

A secret society? – About the mildest look at Common Purpose that it is possible to take.  Worth a look if the subject is new to you.

Pakistan facing 'mortal threat' – Who cares?  You should!  This nation has nuclear weapons and millions of its population have the ‘right’ to enter this country.  This is a developing situation of some importance.

Japan's exports halved in January – Japan has the second largest economy in the world.  If this is the state that they find themselves in then globally things are going to be as bad as the BNP says they are.  The only real question for me is, will the public vote us in in time to do something about it?

Bank nationalisation 'not needed' – Says Lord Mandelson.  Our policy must be right then.

World economy to 'shrink' in 2009 – for the first time since the second world war says the World Bank.  Heavyweight opinion which agrees with the British National Party.

Lloyds control 'to boost lending' – We now own 65% of Lloyds Bank.  What are they proposing to do with it?  Increase lending, ermmm, isn’t that just rejuvenating the cause of the financial problems?

'No alternative' to mail sell-off  - Says Lord Mandelson, prisoner number 237658-87, sorry; wishful thinking on my part.  With him in the LabourConservativeLiberal party I thank god that I am a Nationalist.

Barpool ward quarterly bulletin.

As is the way of  British National Party councillors I prepare a quarterly bulletin for distribution across the ward which I represent.

I have been working on this extensively today so that it can be ready in time for the activists, along with myself of course, to distribute it without having to wait for the leaflets to arrive.

The current bulletin will be my third and as usual content is not the problem.  The only problem I have with content is what to leave off.  Once text and pictures are sorted out it is simply a matter of layout, or so you would think.  Anyone who has ever tried laying out a leaflet will be smiling right now because they know that content is only half of the story.

A bad layout destroys a leaflet.

I usually spend as much time on layout as I do on content.  Changing picture sizes slightly.  Editing text as necessary if box sizes have to change.  Considering font changes etcetera.  The list is as boring as it is endless.

I have nearly finished now and am I glad that I do not have to do this again for a while.

Graphic designers have no fear.  I am not about to set up in competition.

Supermarket delight.

supermarket trolley I have been to our local supermarket today for our ‘main shop’, you know the kind of thing.  Of course I was not impressed by the prices but I cannot help but be quietly pleased with one small event.

I was standing in the aisle quietly minding my own business loading mind bending amounts of long life milk for the week, there are six of us, into the trolley when I was bumped into.  A little old lady apologised.  I turned and exchanged the usual, “think nothing of it”, and could not help but realise that she would have only weighed about six stone sopping wet with a woolly jumper on.

She turned, smiled ever so nicely and said, “Oh I recognise you!  You’re that nice young man from the BNP aren’t you?”

Being recognised in the community is an every day part of being an active local councillor for the British National Party but at forty two I have not been called a ‘nice young man’ for a while.

What a nice lady!
